Swedish automobile manufacturer Volvo Car Group has signed a new strategic agreement with the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC) in Tianjin, China.

The agreement was signed by Volvo Car China operations senior vice president Lars Danielson and CATARC vice director Zhang Jianwei.

This deal is aimed at exchange of knowledge about safety and environmental technologies and the development of relevant automotive industry regulations through joint research and discussions.

As part of this agreement, Volvo and CATARC will collaborate to work in three areas including, safety, environment, and well-being (cabin air quality solutions) taking into account the environmental situation, traffic conditions and consumer demands in China.

Volvo Cars will share its global experience and knowledge with CATARC, in order to better promote the understanding of new possibilities in automotive safety, new energy solutions and interior air quality.

Danielson said: "This new strategic partnership will help Volvo Cars to further cement its leading role in improving safety in the automotive industry, and further strengthens our long-term commitment to China as our second home market."
