Magdeburg-based Dornheim Medical Images has said that three-dimensional images facilitate medical diagnoses.

Dornheim's program, designed for creating three-dimensional images, uses cross-sectional images and the highlighted areas of the brain for displaying the individual's anatomy, allowing patients to understand more clearly the operations that are needed to maximize their chances of recovery.

The images, which are used as medical educational model for the analysis, provides linear and angular measurements, volume, access routes and prostheses.

Dornheim Medical Images director Lars Dornheim said, "Exact measurements can be taken without artefacts, occlusions and poor selectivity; something that classic tomographic data does not allow."

Three-dimensional medical images can also be accessed using the electronic medical record which will enable physicians to retrieve images from previous years, reports Invest in Saxony-Anhalt.

In addition, Dornheim Medical, in partnership with another Magdeburg medical equipment company, is working on computer-assisted skin-cancer screening.
